Opening Weekend of Dutch Oven Cooking and Camping - 2009

The 15th Annual Opening Weekend of Dutch Oven Cooking and Camping will be at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Moses  Lake.  This is a great location.  Opening Weekend has been here twice and both times a great time was had by all.  Come for the whole 3 days or come for a day, or a meal, or just come.  Everyone is welcome!

Space:  We are going to be on the North end of the Fairgrounds.  The campsites are grass and there are trees.  We will not have an enclosed area but we will set up a big tarp.  We have twenty sites reserved but additional sites should be available.

Schedule:  The Opening Weekend has always been a schedule-free gathering.  It’s a time for people to gather, camp, cook, and enjoy each other’s company.

Friday and Saturday nights we will have potlucks.  Saturday night is the best night to show off your new or favorite recipe.

Saturday and Sunday mornings will be “grazing times”.  As people get up they start cooking as the mood strikes them.  They give a holler when their culinary delight is finished.  Folks drift over with their plate and fork to sample their efforts.  By the time you have sampled from several camps you will be starting to waddle.  It’s relaxing, fun, and helps people get acquainted as they visit each camp site.

This event is a great time to leisurely catch up with old friends and to discover new ones.  If you are into music, bring an instrument.  If you like to read, bring a book.  Moses Lake and neighboring Ephrata offer a range of shopping opportunities.

Contacts:  Reservations aren’t required.  However it would help us to have a rough head count.  You can let us know you are coming by contacting either:
